AUSTRALIAN BIRD STUDY ASSOCIATION Inc.
ABSA BANDER TRAINING COURSES
Since 1997, the Australian Bird Study Association has run a number of intensive training courses. Under the guidelines for training currently being developed, these course will continue to be available to people who cannot access an appropriate "A" Class bander under whom to undergo training.
Graduates from the course will be recommended for the granting of an appropriate Authority from the Banding Office of Environment Australia, depending on each graduate's circumstances.
The course lasts a week, full-time, and will now have pre-course modules that will have to be completed prior to the practical event, which has been run mostly at Barren Grounds Bird Observatory on the NSW South Coast. If demand were sufficient, other locales would be considered.
The courses cost between $1,000 - $1,500 per person. Successful completion of the course leads to a recommendation to the Australian Bird and Bat Banding Scheme that the student be awarded the appropriate licence.
THERE ARE NO PLANS TO RUN A COURSE AT THE MOMENT
HOWEVER, WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO WOULD BE INTERESTED IN DOING SUCH A COURSE.
